About our school

Gundagai South Public School is a small. inclusive, family orientated primary school. The school caters for the individual needs of all students with the provision of stimulating and challenging quality learning programs, delivered in a safe and caring environment. The school is well resourced with a spacious playground, exciting play equipment and well appointed classrooms with interactive whiteboards.

The school operates four main classes with additional teacher support for the two larger classes. For three days each week, the larger classes are split in two based on the students' learning needs. Students across the school attend literacy and numeray classes based on their learning needs with some students working beyond stage level, whilst others receive additional support. Programs to support  student learning include L3 (Language, Literacy and Learning), TEN and TOWN (Numeracy programs), Accelerated Literacy, Jolly Phonics and Focus on Reading.

The school is a Positive Behaviour for Learning school where social skills programs support our core values of Respect, Responsibility and Care. Equity funding is received to support student learning and the school is supported by a welfare worker for two days a week.

Opportunities are provided for all students to participate in a range of academic, sporting and extracurricular activities in addition to their curriculum learning. All students enjoy swimming, gymnastics, tennis and dance lessons provided by qualified external professionals and weekly technolgy lessons are taught by our qualified technology teacher. Music lessons are provided by Wagga School of Music for those who wish to do so.   The school has strong links with other small schools in the disctict, joining with them for sporting events,school excursions, overnight camps and shared learning opportunities as well as community presentations. 

The school enjoys wonderful support from the local community with parents and community members volunteering each week to assist in the classrooms and other school events.
